Katja, her husband, and their two children (9 and 12) wanted a 'gentle' Montenegro week — no early starts, lots of swimming, and at least one rainy-day plan we could pull out without notice.

The shape of the week

We stayed put for six nights in a small stone house in Perast and worked outward. Boat days, an afternoon at Our Lady of the Rocks, a private pasta-making evening with a chef from Kotor, and one half-day hike up the old caravan trail behind the village.

Frequently asked

Questions guests ask before booking

Is the Bay of Kotor good for families with children?+

Very much so. The bay is calm, the swimming is safe, distances between sights are short, and there are enough indoor activities — boat trips, the Maritime Museum, cooking classes — to absorb an unexpected rainy day.
