David, Solo from London: Coast First, Mountains Second

Why a slightly reworked version of the signature route turned into one of our favorite solo itineraries of the year.

David came to us with a brief most solo travellers don't write out loud: 'I want the trip my friends would refuse to do with me.' He wanted the long hikes, the early mornings, a single quiet evening in Perast, and absolutely no nightclubs.

Why we flipped the route

Our signature week starts in the mountains. For David we flipped it — three nights on the coast first to acclimatise, then the long drive up to Žabljak. Solo travellers tend to settle better when the harder days come second.

Frequently asked

Questions guests ask before booking

Is Montenegro good for solo travel?+

Yes. It is small, safe, and English is widely spoken in the tourism sector. The coast is sociable; the north is peaceful — a good combination for a solo week.
