E-Bike Loops Around the Bay of Kotor

A quiet stretch of fjord-like coastline most travelers drive past. Why the bay should be ridden, not just photographed.

Most travelers see the Bay of Kotor through a car windshield on the coastal road. They miss the quiet half. The eastern shore — the loop from Kotor through Dobrota to Perast and back via the inland lane — is barely thirty kilometres of pedalling on an e-bike, almost entirely flat, and shaded for most of the route.

The route, segment by segment

Kotor to Dobrota

Eight kilometres along the waterfront promenade, past the maritime museum and a dozen working fishermen's docks. The road is closed to most cars and the bay is on your left the entire time.

Dobrota to Perast

Twelve kilometres of slow climb and easy descent. We stop halfway at a family konoba for a long coffee and a plate of smoked ham.

Perast and the two islands

The bay narrows here. We park the bikes and take a small boat to Our Lady of the Rocks — fifteen minutes round trip, and the centrepiece of the day.

Frequently asked

Questions guests ask before booking

How fit do I need to be for the Kotor e-bike loop?+

Very moderate. With pedal assist, the entire 30 km loop is comfortable for anyone who rides a regular bike around their neighbourhood. The only climb is a 4% grade for about a kilometre.
