Perast and the two islands of the inner Bay of Kotor at blue hour

Perast has one street. It runs along the waterfront, between sixteen Baroque palaces and the inner bay. At blue hour — the twelve minutes after the sun drops behind the Vrmac ridge — the stone turns lavender, the two islands offshore go gold, and the water flattens to a mirror.

Where to stand

Walk to the western end of the promenade, past the Heritage hotel. You'll find a low stone wall, a single bench, and a clear sightline to both islands. That is the photograph.

How long do you need in Perast?+

A long afternoon and an evening. Arrive by 4 pm, walk the seafront, take the small boat to Our Lady of the Rocks, eat dinner on the water, and stay through blue hour.
