If you are staying in Žabljak, set an alarm for 5:15 am at least once. The walk from the village to Black Lake takes twenty minutes through pine forest. You will arrive before anyone else.

What you see

A perfectly still surface, Meded peak doubled in the reflection, and a low mist that lifts in the first half-hour of light. Loop the lake clockwise — three kilometres, mostly flat — and you'll be back in the village by breakfast.
